Picnic day 2006

LAWR showcased its projects, faculty, and students at Picnic Day 2006 surrounded by the beautiful architecture of its home in the Plant and Environmental Sciences Building.

Soil scientists encouraged kids of all ages to “paint” with the varying textures and colors of the earth’s “dirt,” and LAWR students and faculty handed out small bags of rich, organic compost to passers-by.

Atmospheric scientists blew up “hot air balloons” and offered dynamic video presentations highlighting the globe’s climactic processes.

And hydrologists told stories of water’s power and influence through demonstrations, live experiment and video presentations.

Picnic Day gave the community a chance to celebrate its amazing resources – Land, Air and Water!
