Microbial ecology; biodegradation of organic pollutants (PAHs, chlorinated solvents, MTBE); bioremediation of contaminated soil, vadose, and groundwater; coupling of physical and microbiological processes; microbial ecology of agroecosystems; carbon cycling in soils; microbiology of invasive plant species; application of molecular tools in environmental microbiology.
