Congratulations to Agricultural and Environmental Chemistry graduate student, Heather Lieb, for being named to this year’s cohort of Earth, Environmental, and Climate Justice Scholars by the UC Davis Institute of the Environment. These scholars are awarded $5,000 and work with institute fellows to advance the vision of the Institute: Using research, education, and public engagement to inform decisions and advance solutions to the planet’s most critical environmental, health, and energy challenges in support of healthy, sustainable, and resilient ecosystems and communities. Heather examines how soil emissions contribute to air pollution precursors in the Salton Sea Air Basin in collaboration with Comité Cívico del Valle. Heather is also helping guide community participation in mural designs for the Institute’s California Climate Art Trail.
