Vina Series
The Vina series consists of very deep, well drained soils on floodplains. These soils formed in alluvium derived from mixed sources. Slope ranges from 0 to 2 percent. The mean annual precipitation is 14 to 16 inches, and the mean annual temperature is 60 to 62 degrees F.
Taxonomic class: Coarse-loamy, mixed, superactive, thermic Pachic Haploxerolls
Typical Pedon
Vina loam, 0 to 2 percent slopes, cropland. When described on August 4, 1988, the soil was moist throughout.
Ap—0 to 8 inches; grayish brown (10YR 5/2) loam, dark brown (10YR 3/3) moist; moderate medium subangular blocky structure; hard, friable, slightly sticky and slightly plastic; common very fine roots; common very fine interstitial pores; moderately acid (pH 5.8); clear smooth boundary.
A1—8 to 14 inches; brown (10YR 5/3) loam, dark brown (10YR 3/3) moist; moderate medium subangular blocky structure; slightly hard, friable, slightly sticky and slightly plastic; few fine and common very fine roots; common very fine interstitial pores; slightly acid (pH 6.4); clear smooth boundary.

Range in Characteristics
The mean annual soil temperature is 63 to 65 degrees F. The soil temperature is above 47 degrees F. the entire year. The soil moisture control section, 8 to 24 inches, is dry in all parts from May 15 to October 31 unless irrigated and is moist in some or all parts from November 1 to May 15. The weighted average clay content of the textural control section 10 to 40 inches ranges from 12 to 18 percent clay.
