Robert M. Hagan Water Chair Endowed Fund

In the 1950 and 60’s, Dr. Bob Hagan was professor in the Department of Irrigation Science in LAWR:  http://www.lawr.ucdavis.edu/a&f_endowments.htm . Bob worked intensively with the UC Cooperative Extension to help farmers and water districts to use water efficiently. Later in the 1970’s and 80’s, Bob was instrumental in developing water policy for the State, ensuring adequate water for California’s agricultural water needs. He worked closely with the Association of CA Water Agencies, and was a founding member of the Water Education Foundation. He was known nationally and internationally for his work on irrigation and water use efficiency. Before his death in 2003, he donated a large sum of his own money to start an endowed faculty position in LAWR. His contribution was matched through a fundraising campaign, led by the Water Education Foundation, with significant contributions by various water agencies in California.

Dr. Thomas Harter is currently filling this Endowed Chair Position in Cooperative Extension.  This year, we received permission to search for an additional CE position in LAWR, to hold the Hagan Endowed Chair, who will succeed Thomas Harter after completion of his 3-year appointment.
