ASGG Student Leif Swenson Wins Milton Award

February 13, 2019: The Atmospheric Science Graduate Group presented the first ever “Walter and Margaret Milton Graduate Atmospheric Science Award” to Leif Swenson, a PhD student of Professor Richard Grotjahn.Leif won the award, which will help further his research over the next year, for his outstanding academic and research work since enrolling at UC Davis in the autumn of 2016.Leif presented some of his research on using the climatology of precipitation to identify unique geographic regions in the United States with similar precipitation characteristics using Self Organizing Maps.The goal of his work will eventually be to determine whether climate models are able to simulate precipitation extremes accurately.Leif hopes to use part of his fellowship to present this work at the CONFERENCE in Montreal.Congratulations, Leif.
