LAWR Information Technology - Mathematica 5.2
Mathematica version 5.2 is now available for purchase
by all staff and faculty on a one-year contract that
expires July 21, 2007. This is an annual license. The
software stops working at the end of the contract period.
Licensing terms allow for installation and use on any
University-owned computer, and on home computers used
by faculty and researchers. All upgrades are included.
The license does not include support.
The prices are as follows:
* Stand-alone license - $150.00 per license (last year,
the price was $400.00)
* Server License - $400.00 per license (last year, the
price was $800.00)
* Server Client License - $75.00 per license (last year,
the price was $250.00)
Additionally, this year, UCD Software License Coordination
will be offering departments the option to obtain Mathematica
on a "departmental license" basis for $2500. The "departmental
license" would allow a department to use as many licenses
as needed, in any combination of server, server client,
or stand-alone versions. Purchases may be made via the
Software Web site (https://my.ucdavis.edu/software/)
or by sending a request to (software@ucdavis.edu).
NOTE 1: The above pricing and the "departmental license"
option are only available this year. Next year, the
pricing and options available for Mathematica are likely
to be different, depending on the outcome of negotiations
for a planned University-wide agreement.
NOTE 2: This agreement is for staff and faculty purchases
only. It does not cover student purchases. Students
may purchase a stand-alone, "student version" of Mathematica
from the UC Davis Bookstore for $139.99. The Software
License Coordination unit has created a special mailing
list for Mathematica (slc-mathematica@ucdavis.edu).
If you have recently contacted the software office concerning
Mathematica, we have already added your name and email
address to our list. Wolfram Research sends news updates
about Mathematica to our office approximately once a
month, and we plan to forward these updates to the email
list. To register for free online seminars with Wolfram,
