To access MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) online:

1. Go to the EH&S website: ehs.ucdavis.edu
   
   
2. Click on the MSDS resource link in the yellow-colored menu box on the right
   
   
3. The resource page contains a variety of different links to MSDS sources.
   
   
4. If one database doesn’t contain the chemical that you need, go back to the previous resource page and try some of the other links.  If you cannot find the MSDS that you need at all, email Vichi Brownlee, our EH&S advisor – vlbrownlee@ucdavis.edu , and she will try to track down the MSDS for you

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT EVERYONE IN YOUR LAB KNOWS HOW TO ACCESS THE MSDS DATABASE.  Regulations are such that you must be able to produce a MSDS sheet for any chemicals in your lab within 5 minutes if asked.  Most labs have hardcopies of the MSDSs on file, but in case you cannot find the hard copy, you need to know how to access a copy of it online.
