The best site I have seen is the SF Bay NOWCAST program. The most amazing plots they have are the "current profiles", which show the 3-D velocity structure in the bay at 5 different locations! They also have great 2-D current maps which is very useful for boaters, but I think those are based on a computer model, which is updated every 30 minutes, as opposed to coming from field data.
Another interesting site is the ALERT System for Sacramento County. On this site they have real-time data for flash flood monitoring for neighborhoods. While this site is interesting, it is important to know that their data has no Quality Control and is totally event-based, so there is no regular frequency of sampling.
